Poland Man Arrested For Stealing 18’ Trailer, Evading Arrest


POLAND, NY (WNY News Now) – A Poland man was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing an 18 foot cargo trailer from a falconer business.

31-year-old Blaydon Niles was observed on video surveillance driving a four wheeler and the trailer down some railroad tracks towards the Town of Poland.

Officers recognized the four wheeler as Niles’, upon arrival at his residence police located the trailer behind the home in a wooded area, still attached to the four wheeler. 


Niles then fled the scene and a warrant was put out for his arrest.

Officers with the Ellicott Police Department located Niles the following day riding a bicycle in the Village of Falconer.

While trying to apprehend Niles, he rode the bike towards the Chadakoin River and he jumped in.



Officers located Niles downstream, where he was taken into custody. 

He was transported to Ellicott City Court where his bail was revoked for several pervious open cases.

Niles was then taken to Chautauqua County Jail.
