JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – The City of Jamestown’s 2023 financial audit will be delayed.
Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist announced Monday night that the audit by Drescher and Maleki will be delayed this year.
Due to the City of Jamestown not having a Comptroller for most of the 2023 fiscal year, they have been slow to get the city’s finances.
However, this does work for the municipality as the company they use to help with the audit, Drescher and Maleki are also delayed.
“They’re telling us that the audit is going to be delayed,“ explained Mayor Sundquist. “And they would rather we do the audit knowing that we are completely done with the revenues and the expenditures, rather than start the testing now, and have go back and make potential additional changes.”
The Mayor assures us that while the audit is behind, there will be no penalty costs.
