JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – In preparation for blazing temperatures coming our way this weekend, State Parks across New York State are extending hours at swimming facilities.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that State Park swimming facilities will extend their hours during this week’s heat wave to help residents beat the heat.
In a statement the Governor said: “Extreme heat is forecast for the entire state Thursday through Saturday, with heat indices expected to reach the 100s in some areas,” explained Governor Hochul. “Visiting our beautiful State beaches, pools and parks is one of the best ways to cool off during this upcoming period of extreme heat, and we will be offering extended hours at sites across New York.”
In Western New York, Allegany State Park’s Red House and Quaker beaches will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
