Duo Pleads Guilty For Conspiring To Distribute Drugs In Massachusetts VA

BOSTON, MA (WNY News Now) – Two Lawrence men have pled guilty in a Boston federal court for conspiring to distribute fentanyl at the Bedford VA in late July. 

30-year-old Deiby Bladimil Casado Ruiz, and 31-year-old Pedro Antonio Sanchez Bernabel both pleaded guilty on one count each of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and the distribution of fentanyl.  

Between July 27, 2022 and November of 2022 the duo conspired to distribute more than 40 grams of the fatal drug.


Both suspects sold fentanyl to individuals at the medical center, including to one Veteran who was suffering from a substance use disorder.

The charges provide a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release and a maximum fine of one million dollars.

Casado Ruiz’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 1, 2023 and Bernabel’s sentencing for Nov. 6, 2023.
