Man Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder of Police Officer


(WNY News Now) – A resident of Perrysburg, New York, has pleaded not guilty to charges of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. The charges stem from an incident on July 1st, 2023, in Perrysburg, where he allegedly intended to cause the death of a police officer while the officer was on duty.

Perrysburg – Michael Buthy, born on April 8, 1981, in Perrysburg, New York, entered a plea of not guilty to multiple charges, including Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. The charges relate to an incident that occurred around July 1st, 2023, in the Town of Perrysburg.

According to prosecutors, Buthy allegedly had the intent to cause the death of a police officer who was performing official duties at the time. The defendant knew or should have known that the intended victim was a police officer.


The case is currently adjourned for motions, and further proceedings will follow.
