GERRY, NY (WNY News Now) – The Chautauqua County Health Department has released the schedule for the free rabies clinic for the month of October.
The free rabies clinic will be held on October 7th, from 1:30 p.m to 4:30 p.m at the Town of Gerry Highway Garage, 4675 Route 60 in Gerry. The clinic is free of charge but does require pre-registration.
Dr. Katie Ball will be the attending veterinarian administering the vaccinations for all pre-registered dogs, cats, and ferrets that are three months of age and older and have proper previous vaccination records.
If you register but are unable to attend the event, please cancel your appointment so the spot can go to another pet as there are a limited number of spots available.
It is required that all dogs are leashed and all cats be contained in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport your furry-friend to and from the vaccination appointment while all pet-parents remain in their vehicles.
Rabies is a serious and fatal disease that is commonly found in raccoons, bats, skunks, and foxes and is zoonotic. The New York State Public Health Law requires all eligible dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets receive this immunization.
