
(WNY News Now) – A 25-year-old male resident of Dunkirk, NY, was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, and traffic violations during a traffic stop conducted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office on Porter Ave. in Pomfret.
Pomfret – In the early hours of September 23, 2023, at approximately 12:36am, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office initiated a routine traffic stop on Porter Ave. within the Town of Pomfret. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Paul Velzy, a 25-year-old male from Dunkirk, NY.
Upon further investigation, Velzy was allegedly found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leading to his arrest on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree. Additionally, Velzy faced citations for speeding within a designated zone and lacking a left-side view mirror.
Velzy was subsequently released with tickets to appear in the Town of Pomfret Court at a later date and time.
