DWAI and Narcotic Investigation Leads to Arrest of Jamestown Resident


(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old Jamestown resident is facing a series of charges, including felony offenses, following an incident on Liberty Street and East 8th Street in Jamestown on September 28, 2023, at approximately 1:55 am.

Jamestown – In the early hours of September 28, 2023, Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon officers observed a man slumped over the wheel of a running vehicle near Liberty Street and East 8th Street. Upon investigation, the operator was identified as Codie D. Swartz, a 23-year-old Jamestown resident. Swartz was allegedly found to be operating the vehicle with revoked New York State driving privileges and under the influence of drugs.

A search of Swartz’s person uncovered a quantity of cocaine, while a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a digital scale. As a result, Swartz has been charged with multiple offenses, including Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st degree (a felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree (a felony), and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree.


Swartz is currently in custody at the Jamestown City Jail, awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
