(WNY News Now) – On November 12, 2023, at 5:32 P.M., New York State Troopers from SP Albion responded to a fatal single-vehicle collision on East Barre Road in Barre.
Barre, NY – The incident involved a 2007 Volkswagen traveling westbound on East Barre Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle exited the roadway, overturning multiple times in a field off the north shoulder. The sole occupant, identified as Joshua S. Watkins, 32, from Albion, NY, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Orleans County Coroner arrived at the site, and an autopsy is scheduled to take place at the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. It was determined that Watkins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
To aid in the investigation, the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation provided assistance.
