
(WNY News Now) – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office detained a 33-year-old Chautauqua County man on felony charges after responding to a disorderly conduct call on Ellicott Rd.
Town of Portland – On November 13, 2023, at approximately 1:45 PM, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to reports of a disorderly subject on Ellicott Rd, situated in the Town of Portland. The ensuing investigation revealed that 33-year-old Thomas A. Schmid Jr. was the subject in question and had an outstanding felony warrant.
In an attempt to apprehend Schmid, law enforcement encountered resistance during the arrest. However, officers successfully subdued him and took him into custody. Schmid now faces charges of Criminal Mischief 3rd, Resisting Arrest, and Harassment 2nd.
Following his apprehension, Schmid was transported to The Chautauqua County Jail, where he awaits a CAP arraignment. The nature of the felony warrant and additional details surrounding the incident were not provided in the initial report.
