City of Jamestown Releases Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Proposal

(WNY News Now) – The City of Jamestown, New York, has made its Fiscal Year 2024 Budget and Capital Improvement Program available for public inspection, inviting residents to review the details at specified locations and on the city’s website. A public hearing is scheduled for November 20, 2023, allowing citizens to voice their opinions on the proposed budget.

Jamestown – The City of Jamestown, in accordance with Section C-39.E. of the Charter, has disclosed its proposed Budget and Capital Improvement Program for the fiscal year 2024. Citizens are encouraged to examine the details, which are accessible at the Office of the City Clerk, located at 200 E. 3rd Street, Jamestown, New York, during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., legal holidays excepted). Additionally, the information is available at the Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry Street, Jamestown, and on the city’s official website at www.jamestownny.gov/budget.

The comprehensive breakdown of the City Council’s Budget for the fiscal year 2024 is as follows:


Expenditures:

  • Salaries: $19,688,922.74
  • Benefits: $10,545,213.00
  • Contractual: $5,821,908.16
  • Debt Service: $2,085,906.00
  • Agencies: $425,000.00
  • Capital: $1,406,300.10
  • Equipment: $176,750.00
  • Total Expenditures: $40,150,000.00

Revenues:

  • Property Taxes: $16,380,000.00
  • Miscellaneous Revenues: $23,770,000.00
  • Total Revenues: $40,150,000.00

The budget reflects a comprehensive financial plan that covers various aspects, including personnel costs, contractual obligations, and capital investments. The city anticipates generating revenue through property taxes and various miscellaneous sources to fund these expenditures.



PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the City Council will hold a Public Hearing
on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 2 nd Floor,
Municipal Building, 200 E. 3rd Street, Jamestown, New York on the City Council’s Budget and
Capital Improvement Program for fiscal year 2023.
