(WNY News Now) – Michael Pantano, a Silver Creek school bus driver, was lauded by the Chautauqua County Legislature for his heroic response during a crash in September.

MAYVILLE, NY – Silver Creek resident and bus driver Michael Pantano received recognition from the Chautauqua County Legislature for his courageous actions during a crash. District 6 Legislator Tom Harmon praised Pantano as a “true hero” during the Wednesday night ceremony. Pantano’s quick thinking and bravery were highlighted, showcasing the commendable efforts of individuals in times of crisis.

Pantano was, “driving his bus on Route 20 when he noticed a vehicle approaching in the opposite direction had crossed into the lane of the bus,” said Harmon. “Pantano was able to maneuver the bus without hesitation and prevent a head on collision with the approaching vehicle.”


Even though a collision took place, all 11 students on the bus and the vehicle’s driver were uninjured thanks to Pantano’s quick thinking, attentiveness and concentration on the road.

“The Chautauqua County Legislature honors and commends the heroic efforts and quick actions of Michael Pantano,” continued Harmon. “He has brought honor to himself, the Village of Silver Creek, the Town of Hanover, the Silver Creek Central School District and all of Chautauqua County.”
