(WNY News Now) – Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman confirmed that a 38-year-old Niagara Falls man pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree today in County Court for the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Jason Chapman outside Wedge Liquors on Pine Avenue last July.

Niagara Falls – Michael Hamilton admitted to the killing of Jason Chapman during a dispute that escalated from inside Wedge Liquors to the parking lot on July 12, 2022. The 38-year-old Niagara Falls resident shot Chapman to death after the disagreement took a deadly turn. The victim, Jason Chapman, was 22 years old at the time.

District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced the guilty plea, underscoring the severity of the charge. Hamilton now faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. The sentencing is scheduled to take place on January 25th of the upcoming year and will be presided over by Judge John J. Ottaviano.

The incident unfolded outside Wedge Liquors on Pine Avenue, marking a tragic end to a dispute that originated within the store.
