(WNY News Now) – PA -In response to anticipated adverse weather conditions, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has imposed restrictions on various vehicle types along Interstate-90 (I-90) in both directions, west of the NY/PA state line to Ripley, with all lanes currently open.
PennDOT has issued precautionary measures on I-90 within Pennsylvania due to forecasted severe weather. The advisory, applicable from the NY/PA state line to Ripley, restricts the following vehicles: tractors without trailers, tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed/open/tank trailers, and tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers. Also included are enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks meeting CMV criteria, passenger vehicles towing trailers, recreational vehicles/motorhomes, school buses, commercial buses, and motor coaches.
These restrictions aim to enhance safety during adverse weather conditions and ensure smooth traffic flow. PennDOT emphasizes the prohibition of certain vehicle types without chains or Alternate Traction Devices (ATDs) on loaded tandem trailers.
