(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) Buffalo NY has issued a Winter Storm Watch effective from January 12 at 3:14 AM EST until January 15 at 7:00 AM EST, warning residents of Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties about potential heavy lake effect snow and gusty winds.
The NWS anticipates total snow accumulations exceeding a foot in persistent lake effect areas, accompanied by winds gusting up to 65 mph on Saturday and Saturday evening. Travel conditions are expected to be extremely difficult, with widespread blowing snow likely to significantly reduce visibility. The advisory spans from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning, urging residents to exercise caution.
