(WNY News Now) – A 42-year old Jamestown man faces multiple charges including criminal possession of controlled substances following a fire incident on the north side of Jamestown early on Feb. 16, 2024.
In the early hours of Feb. 16, 2024, officers from the 3rd Platoon responded to reports of a fire emanating from a tent adjacent to residential properties in the north side of Jamestown. Upon investigation, Marcelino S. Hernandez was discovered to have ignited the fire, contravening Jamestown City Code on Prohibited Burning.
While engaging with Hernandez, officers noticed drug paraphernalia in his possession, prompting a search that led to the discovery of a cache of illegal substances and paraphernalia. Hernandez was promptly placed under arrest and transported to Jamestown City Jail.
Subsequent examination revealed that Hernandez was in possession of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Suboxone, and associated packaging materials. He now faces charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, and Jamestown City Code Prohibited Burning.
