(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 25-year-old Abdulla Abdalla of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony).
It is alleged that on Monday, June 20, 2022, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Buffalo Police responded to a reported shooting on 100 block of Grote Street. The victim, 40-year-old Monroe J. Cross, III, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he later died from the injuries. The defendant is accused of intentionally shooting the victim inside of a home.
Abdalla was held without bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.
If convicted of the highest charge, Abdalla faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney William Fitzgerald of the Felony Trials Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
