Joseph D. Blair, a 30-year-old resident of Olean, NY, was arrested by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office following a welfare fraud investigation.
On April 2nd, 2024, at 10:00 am, Joseph D. Blair was taken into custody at the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services in Olean, NY. The arrest came after an inquiry into suspected welfare fraud, prompted by a complaint from the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services.
Blair faces charges of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, all felony offenses. He allegedly received $8,935.95 in fraudulent Public Assistance Benefits by concealing household income from employment. The investigation, initiated in February, culminated in Blair’s arrest without incident. He was processed, released with an appearance ticket, and is scheduled to appear in City of Olean Court on April 30, 2024 at 9:30 AM.
