(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney announced that River Freer’s artwork, “Her,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol as the 2024 Congressional Art Competition winner for New York’s 24th District.
This year, Tenney received over 30 pieces of artwork from high schoolers across New York’s 24th Congressional District. Megan Lasher was awarded second place, Tiffany Seymour third place, and Jennifer Daum received an honorable mention. This year’s winners were selected by Mary Jo Whitman, the Gallery Director and SCR Co-Coordinator of GO Art!, and Jackie Hoyt, the Executive Director of the Wyoming County Arts Council.
“The Congressional Art Competition has given an exciting opportunity for students across our community to showcase their talents and potentially have their artwork hung in the halls of the United States Capitol,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Congratulations to our district’s winner, River Freer! I am eager to see River’s artwork, titled “Her,” displayed in the halls of Congress. Thank you to all the talented artists who submitted artwork to this year’s competition. I continue to be inspired by the creativity in our community!”
