(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A 27-year-old resident of Jamestown, NY, has been sentenced to 72 months in prison on a drug conspiracy charge, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today.
Komenda was convicted of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, over five grams of methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara handed down the sentence.
The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, began on April 27, 2019, when the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Komenda’s residence. During the search, officers discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a stun gun. A second search on September 5, 2019, uncovered more methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, along with $3,182 in cash found in Komenda’s shorts pocket, identified as proceeds from his drug trafficking.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Jamestown Police Department, led by Chief Timothy Jackson; the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), under Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarantino of the New York Field Division; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), under Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller of the New York Field Division.
