In the early morning hours of May 24th, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle in the Town of Chautauqua. The driver, identified as Samuel A. Hernandez Garcia, 23, of Elyria, Ohio, failed to comply and fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle was found abandoned and inoperable.

At approximately 8:15 am, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious male on Rt 430 in Dewittville. Upon arrival, they identified the individual as Hernandez Garcia. During the encounter, he attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended following a brief pursuit.

Further investigation revealed that Hernandez Garcia had an extraditable warrant in Connecticut for Assault in the 3rd degree. Consequently, he was charged with multiple offenses, including resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree, failure to comply, reckless driving, operating without a license, and being a fugitive from justice.

Hernandez Garcia was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
