Jamestown, N.Y. – Prepare for an Adventure in Wetlands at ACNC

Experience the wonders of wetlands at the Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) on Saturday, June 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. “Exploring Pond Life” is an engaging event where participants will join an Audubon educator to delve into the intricate ecosystems of ACNC’s ponds.

Wetlands play a vital role in our environment by preventing flooding, filtering water, and serving as nurseries for various species. During this event, you will discover the fascinating plants and animals that thrive in these habitats and understand their importance in maintaining ecological balance.

Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared to get a little dirty while exploring the ponds. The event costs $8 for adults and $6 for ACNC members and children aged 9-15. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (716) 569-2345 or visiting AudubonCNC.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.

The Audubon Community Nature Center, located at 1600 Riverside Road, offers nearly 600 acres of natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy live birds of prey, an arboretum, gardens, picnic areas, and over five miles of trails open daily from dawn until dusk. The Nature Center building, open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m., features interactive exhibits, live animals, and a gift shop.
