(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A violent gang assault behind a former restaurant in Jamestown has resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old resident and two juveniles.

On June 26, 2024, at approximately 2:44 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon responded to an urgent report of an assault in progress behind the former Oriental Star on the Riverwalk. Upon arrival, the officers observed three suspects fleeing west across South Main Street. Following a brief foot pursuit, the officers apprehended Julio Arizmendi, an 18-year-old Jamestown resident, along with two juveniles.

The investigation revealed an alleged brutal attack involving Julio, the juveniles, and an unidentified black male. The attackers wielded a stick, knife, imitation pistol, and a glass bottle, which was shattered over the victim’s head. The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was promptly treated at UPMC Chautauqua.

Julio Arizmendi now faces multiple charges, including Gang Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, as well as Resisting Arrest. He is currently being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
