(WNY News Now) – Rochester – Raymond G. Girard, 36, of Rochester, NY, faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to illegally possessing over 400 rounds of ammunition.
Raymond G. Girard, 36, of Rochester, NY, admitted guilt yesterday before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. for possession of ammunition as a convicted felon, a violation carrying a potential 15-year sentence.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Marangola, the case arose from a January 2023 search of Girard’s residence, during which law enforcement discovered and seized more than 400 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. Girard, previously convicted in Monroe County Court in June 2016 for Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, is legally barred from possessing ammunition.
The guilty plea follows an extensive investigation led by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and the Rochester Police Department. Sheriff Todd Baxter, Major Miklos Szoczei II, Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller, and Chief David Smith directed their respective agencies’ efforts.
Raymond G. Girard is set to be sentenced on October 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. by Judge Geraci.
