(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from 12:25 PM EDT until 1:15 PM EDT on July 10. A severe thunderstorm was detected over Evangola State Park, approximately 14 miles northeast of Dunkirk, moving northeast at 45 mph.

  • Wind gusts up to 60 mph

Impact:

  • Possible damage to roofs, siding, and trees

Areas Affected:

  • Buffalo
  • West Seneca
  • Lackawanna
  • Hamburg
  • East Aurora
  • Evans
  • Eden
  • Orchard Park
  • Small Boat Harbor
  • Silver Creek

This includes Interstate 90 between exits 54 and 58.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 9:00 PM EDT for western New York. Remain vigilant for the possibility of a tornado, as they can form quickly from severe thunderstorms. If a tornado is spotted, immediately seek shelter in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

Additionally, torrential rainfall accompanying the storm may result in flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
