(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – On July 11, 2024, at 5:27 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to a domestic dispute at a South Side residence. Before their arrival, dispatch informed the officers that Shane M. Hefley, a 23-year-old Jamestown resident, had attempted to stab someone inside the home.

Upon reaching the scene, officers learned that the victim had barricaded themselves in a bedroom while Hefley was attempting to break in. As the officers prepared to enter the residence, Hefley opened the front door and was taken into custody without incident.

Hefley was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree by means of a Dangerous Instrument, and Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
