(WNY News Now) – Ellen Ditonto, Jamestown Board of Public Utilities’ Business Development Coordinator, recently inspired P-Tech Academy graduates with a speech focused on innovation, perseverance, and future opportunities in the technology field.

In her speech, Ditonto highlighted the importance of innovation, perseverance and the opportunities that await graduates in the technology field. Drawing from experience, Ditonto shared insights and encouraged the graduates to embrace challenges and remain committed to continuous learning.

Ditonto emphasized the growing demand for skilled professionals in the utility sector, saying, “As a utility company, we are looking to fill jobs in the coming years with people like you. And we need to find employees who have gotten a great education – with hands-on experience – and an understanding of the future of electrification in our homes, businesses and economy.”

“We will need more qualified electricians, electrical construction managers, electrical engineers, line workers and many other job titles to do the work required to meet national goals and corporate targets for decarbonization,” added Ditonto. “Because of the ‘green wave’ emerging across our country, trade jobs are now at the forefront of some of the most exciting technological and environmental innovations.”

Ditonto encouraged graduates to remain open to change and innovation and to pursue their passions with dedication and resilience.

The P-Tech Academy, known for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on technology and engineering, celebrated the achievements of its graduates with a ceremony attended by faculty, family, and community members. The event also recognized outstanding student achievements and featured remarks from school administrators.
