(WNY News Now) – Jamestown -A riveting new radio documentary, “10,000 Maniacs: Can’t Ignore the Train,” will soon hit the airwaves, offering an intimate look into the early days of Jamestown’s iconic band, 10,000 Maniacs. This four-part series, produced by Crying Out Loud Productions and WRFA, is set to premiere on WRFA 107.9 FM on Friday, July 26th at 6 p.m.
The documentary, crafted by the late Aaron Perez, delves into the music scene of 1978 Jamestown and follows the band’s formative years. Through interviews with the band’s peers and early collaborators, the series narrates the Maniacs’ journey from local gigs to their first major label release, “The Wishing Chair.” The documentary is enriched with never-before-heard rehearsal recordings and the voice of the late Rob Buck, the band’s original lead guitarist, ensuring a genuine portrayal of their early career.
“10,000 Maniacs supported the project from the beginning, making their archives available,” said producer Emily Drew. “Aaron was thrilled to include rare content that offers new insights into the band’s history.”
Episodes will air on Fridays at 6 p.m., with subsequent broadcasts on August 2nd, 9th, and 16th. The series can also be streamed on wrfalp.com.
