(WNY News Now) – Senator George Borrello and Assemblyman Joseph Giglio demand Governor Hochul take immediate action following Edward Kindt’s escape from DOCCS supervision.
JAMESTOWN, NY – Following the news that convicted killer Edward Kindt escaped from the supervision of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) and was missing for six days before parole officials notified local authorities, Senator George Borrello and Assemblyman Joseph Giglio sent a letter to Governor Hochul to protest the dangerous lapse and demand Kindt’s return to prison.
In the letter they state:
“Kindt was only apprehended thanks to the swift and effective police work of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department. He ran from his parole assigned group home in Dutchess County on Thursday, July 18. The Sheriff’s Department was not alerted that Kindt was no longer in DOCCS control until Tuesday, July 23, when the assistance of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department was requested by DOCCS Fugitive Apprehension Team to arrest him.
With all due respect, we believe Kindt should be returned to prison. Kindt’s record as a vicious predator and murderer, his disciplinary violations while in prison and this latest parole violation are proof positive that he should never have been released to begin with.”
They conclude by asking the Governor to clean house at the Parole Board and reverse the pro-criminal policies that are putting the safety of New Yorkers at risk.
