(WNY News Now) – Sinclairville – A Sinclairville resident faces serious charges following a destructive residential fire that authorities have determined was deliberately set.
On July 23, 2024, emergency responders from local fire departments, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fire Investigation Team were dispatched to a fully engulfed residential fire at 38 East Ave. in Sinclairville, NY. The blaze, which heavily damaged the home, was quickly deemed suspicious by investigators on the scene.
Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that 53-year-old Vicki L. Rumsey of Sinclairville had intentionally started the fire. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest on charges of arson in the third degree.
Rumsey turned herself in to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, where she is expected to be arraigned in centralized court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
