(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A morning altercation turned dangerous as a homeless man brandished a ceremonial sword, threatening a woman and endangering a child.

Jamestown police officers responded to a north-side residence early on the morning of September 11, 2024, following a report of a man wielding a weapon. Upon arrival at the scene around 8:21 AM, officers encountered 25-year-old Isiah T. Fuentes, who had allegedly threatened a woman with a metal ceremonial sword during a heated confrontation.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, the incident took place in an apartment where a small child, preparing for school, witnessed the violent behavior. Fuentes, a Ripley resident, reportedly swung the sword multiple times in a threatening manner toward the woman, endangering both her and the child.

Fuentes was arrested at the scene and taken to the Jamestown City Jail. He now faces charges of Menacing in the 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The suspect is being held pending his arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
