(WNY News Now) – A motor vehicle accident on State Road in Royalton on September 12th, 2024, has left a construction worker critically injured and an investigation underway.

Royalton, NY — A severe motor vehicle accident on State Road in the Town of Royalton on September 12th, 2024, at 2:28 PM has involved three individuals, with significant consequences. The incident occurred when a 2013 Chrysler sedan, driven westbound by 59-year-old Darrin T. Moreland of Middleport, collided with a construction site.

The accident resulted in injuries to two construction workers. Zachary K. Brown, a 24-year-old from Newfane, was transported by Mercy Flight for medical treatment. He was seated in a construction vehicle involved in the accident. Another construction worker, 23-year-old Sheldon J. Gardner from Little Genesee, NY, sustained injuries on the pump trailer at the site.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details on the cause of the collision and the condition of the injured parties are pending.
