(WNY News Now) – Franklinville – A Franklinville man faces attempted larceny charges after deputies observed him accessing a vehicle without permission in a local parking lot.

On the evening of September 14, 2024, deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Dustin M. Green of Franklinville, NY, following an attempted grand larceny incident. The arrest occurred after officers, on routine patrol in the Village of Franklinville, noticed Green acting suspiciously near a parked vehicle on Elm Street.

According to reports, Green was observed peering through the driver’s side window of the vehicle before gaining entry. Deputies initiated further investigation, revealing that Green had unlawfully accessed the vehicle and was attempting to locate the keys inside. The vehicle’s owner confirmed that they had not granted Green permission to enter the car.

Green was subsequently charged with Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree under Penal Law 110/155.30 (8). After being processed, Green was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Franklinville Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
