(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A Jamestown resident faces aggravated DWI charges after striking a parked car on the city’s south side in the early hours of Sunday.

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 3:25 a.m., Jamestown Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on the city’s south side. Upon arrival, officers found 41-year-old Eric A. Decker behind the wheel of a vehicle that had collided with a parked car, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Officers observed Decker exhibiting signs of intoxication and conducted field sobriety tests, which Decker failed. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. A breathalyzer test revealed Decker’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was more than twice the legal limit.

Decker has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Aggravated DWI) due to the elevated BAC level. He also faces a traffic violation in connection with the crash.

After processing, Decker was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court. He is currently held pending arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
