(WNY News Now) – Olean – Construction on the City of Olean’s Walkable Olean Phase III is progressing along East State Street, from Front Street to North Union Street. As work transitions from the north to the south side of the street, significant changes in traffic patterns are taking place, and drivers are urged to exercise caution.
The current active work zone spans from Union Street to Clinton Street. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic lights managing the flow, creating potential delays for commuters. Additionally, North Barry Street is closed at East State Street and Time Square, while South Barry Street is closed at East State Street and South Street.
For those needing access to City buildings, the East State Street entrances are currently closed due to sidewalk removal as part of the project. However, access is still available through Time Square at the south end of North Barry Street. Residents needing to reach police dispatch can also do so via Time Square.
City officials express appreciation for the community’s patience during this phase of the Walkable Olean project. Updates and additional information can be found on the City of Olean’s website at www.cityofolean.org.
