(WNY News Now) – Jamestown Prepares for 27th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence and Unity Day Celebration on October 4.

The 27th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence and 22nd Annual Unity Day Celebration will take place today, Friday, October 4, 2024.

The event, sponsored by the Chautauqua County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, will commence at the Northwest Arena on Third Street at 11:45 AM and conclude at Tracy Plaza, Jamestown City Hall.

Participants will gather at the arena, with the walk scheduled from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM, demonstrating unity against domestic violence. The Unity Day event at City Hall will follow from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM, featuring powerful speakers who will share their experiences and inspire hope within our community.

This year’s keynote speaker, Amanda Case, will recount her personal journey as a child affected by domestic violence, sharing the tragic story of her mother, who was murdered by her father in the 1990s. Amanda aims to unify our community and encourage domestic violence survivors to seek help and justice.

Additionally, Amber Harper will share her inspiring story of recovery from domestic violence, highlighting that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Both speakers emphasize the importance of community support in breaking the cycle of violence and advocating for survivors.

All community members are encouraged to wear purple in solidarity and support of the cause.
