(WNY News Now) – A domestic dispute turned violent when a Town of Poland woman was arrested for assault after allegedly injuring a man with a knife.

Ellicott, N.Y. – On October 7, Ellicott Police charged Melissa A. Christopherson, 53, of the Town of Poland, with third-degree assault after a domestic incident escalated into violence. According to the police report, officers were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Ellicott, where it was alleged that Christopherson recklessly injured a male victim with a knife.

The incident unfolded at approximately 11:00 AM, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Christopherson was taken into custody without further incident and was later issued an appearance ticket. She will be required to answer to the charge in the Town of Ellicott court at a future date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
