(WNY News Now) – A Syracuse Police Officer was injured in a motor vehicle accident late Thursday night after a wrong-way driver collided with his patrol car during an emergency response.

Syracuse, N.Y. – On Thursday, October 10th, at approximately 11:47 p.m., a Syracuse Police Officer was involved in a motor vehicle collision while responding to a burglary in progress. The accident occurred at the intersection of South Clinton Street and West Washington Street when a motorist, traveling in the wrong direction, crashed into the officer’s vehicle.

The motorist, identified as 24-year-old Lauren Klee, was found to be operating her vehicle under the influence. She was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). According to authorities, Klee declined medical attention at the scene.

The officer involved in the collision was transported to Upstate University Hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, his K9 partner, who was also in the vehicle at the time, did not appear to sustain any injuries. The officer’s condition is reported as stable, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and further charges could be pending against Klee. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
