(WNY News Now) – The Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) has unveiled the winners of its 2024 Nature Photography Contest, featuring remarkable entries from youth and adult photographers across the globe, including submissions from Australia and India.

Youth and adult photographers from across the country and around the world – as far away as Australia and India – submitted entries to Audubon Community Nature Center’s (ACNC) 2024 Nature Photography Contest.
Without knowing the names or hometowns of the photographers, judges reviewed all the contest entries to determine the Adult (ages 19 and older) and Youth (ages 8 to 18) judged winners and honorable mentions in the categories of:
Macros and Close-up Details: Close-up shots of small things or close-up details of large things.
Scapes: Landscapes, plantscapes, seascapes, weather, clouds, rainbow, mountains, ponds, or any view the photographer found beautiful.
Wildlife: Any wild animal was acceptable, including birds, mammals, fish, snails, insects, etc.
Winners in the Adult category are:
- Macros or Close-Up Details – “Pollinated” by Christopher Baker, Madison, Ala.
- Scapes – “Waterfall Below Lena Lake” by Robert Nowak, Bothell, Wash.
- Wildlife – “Owl Babies” by Jamie Johnston, Woodland Park, Colo.
Youth winners are:
- Macros or Close-Up – “Purple Haze” by Addison Becker, Jamestown, N.Y.
- Scapes – “Courchevel” by Avni Puri, Dubai.
- Wildlife – “Coyote Pups Touching Noses” by Leo Dale, Sonoma, Calif.
Judged winners received $200 cash prizes, and their photographs will be on display at the Nature Center.
Community Choice winners were those that received the most votes on the contest website. Each also received a $200 cash prize. “Clyde the Cardinal,” entered in Wildlife by Charlie Rovegno of Lakewood, New York, is the Youth Community Choice winner, and “Morning Beauty of Pond,” entered in Scapes by Catherine Faulk of Jamestown, New York, took the honors for Adults.
Funds raised from the contest help support the more than 1,400 nature education programs ACNC offers annually throughout both New York’s Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties and Warren County in Pennsylvania.
