(WNY News Now) – An electrical issue in the ceiling of a Gerry residence triggered a fire, prompting a multi-department response.
Gerry, N.Y. – On October 19, 2024, at approximately 3:27 p.m., multiple fire departments were dispatched to 2016 Old Chautauqua Road in the Town of Gerry in response to a structure fire. Crews worked swiftly to contain the blaze, which threatened to consume the entire residence.
By 5:04 p.m., the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team arrived to assess the situation and determine the fire’s origin. After a thorough investigation, officials identified an electrical wiring fault in the ceiling as the cause of the fire.
No injuries have been reported, and local authorities are working with the homeowners to ensure the property is safely secured. There were no charges filed or arrests related to the incident, as the fire was deemed accidental.
