(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old Jamestown man faces criminal contempt charges after violating a court-issued order of protection during a probation check.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On October 18, 2024, at approximately 7:53 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department, in collaboration with Chautauqua County Probation Officers, were conducting a home visit as part of a joint GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) detail. During the routine probation check at an East Side residence, officers discovered that Shane M. Hefley, a 23-year-old Jamestown resident, was in violation of a court-issued order of protection.

The order of protection mandated that Hefley stay away from the victim, who was present at the residence during the visit. As a result, Hefley was immediately taken into custody for Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. He was transported to Jamestown City Jail, where he remains held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
