(WNY News Now) – A 51-year-old Randolph man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a crash in the Town of Chautauqua on November 16, 2024.

Chautauqua, N.Y. – On the evening of November 16, 2024, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Plank Road in the Town of Chautauqua. The driver, identified as 51-year-old Rusty Ernewein of Randolph, was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Ernewein had been operating his vehicle while intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to keep right.

Ernewein was processed and will answer to the charges at the Chautauqua Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
