(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man is facing a felony charge after a domestic incident that left the victim unconscious, prompting a swift police response.

Jamestown Police responded to a physical domestic dispute on the city’s North Side on December 3, 2024, around 8:04 PM. Officers met with the female victim, who reported that Christian A. Horta-Romero, a 26-year-old resident of Jamestown, had fled the scene.

The investigation revealed that Horta-Romero allegedly strangled the victim in the kitchen and again in the bedroom, where she lost consciousness for a short time. Officers quickly located Horta-Romero nearby and took him into custody without incident.

Horta-Romero was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was charged with Strangulation in the Second Degree, a Class D felony in New York State. He is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
