(WNY News Now) – A late-night street check on Jamestown’s north side ended in a foot chase and the apprehension of a 19-year-old local resident with an active arrest warrant.

On December 19, 2024, at approximately 1:07 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon initiated a routine street check at a business located on the city’s north side. During the check, they encountered 19-year-old Calvert J. Ortolano, a Jamestown resident with an active arrest warrant issued by the department.

When instructed to stop, Ortolano fled the scene on foot, prompting a pursuit through the area. Officers quickly apprehended him and transported him to the Jamestown City Jail. Along with the original warrant, Ortolano now faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.

Currently, Ortolano remains in custody at the city jail, awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
