(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown uncovered a fugitive with outstanding warrants and led to additional drug possession charges early Friday morning.
JAMESTOWN, NY — On December 20, 2024, at approximately 5:43 AM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd platoon stopped an SUV near the intersection of W 8th Street and Monroe Street for an expired inspection sticker.
During the stop, officers identified a passenger, 33-year-old Kristy E. Walters of Jamestown, NY, and discovered she had an outstanding warrant from Warren County, Pennsylvania. Walters was taken into custody without incident and transported to Jamestown City Jail.
While being processed at the jail, officers discovered methamphetamine in Walters’ possession. As a result, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, in addition to Fugitive from Justice (felony). Walters remains in custody pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
