(WNY News Now) – A traffic complaint in Palmyra escalated into a police pursuit, culminating in the arrest of a Lyons man on multiple charges.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A police chase through Palmyra on Wednesday resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Jawuan T. Thomas of Lyons, following allegations of traffic and licensing violations.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle parked in the middle of Water Street, causing potential road hazards. Upon attempting to address the issue, deputies reported that Thomas fled the scene, prompting a pursuit.

According to authorities, Thomas was driving without a valid license due to multiple suspensions. The pursuit ended with his arrest.

Thomas now faces several charges, including first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, failure to obey a police officer, and a parking violation.

He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
