(WNY News Now) – On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at approximately 2:32 PM, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a personal injury crash at the intersection of Bennett Road (Route 60) and Williams Street in the Town of Dunkirk.
According to the Sheriff’s report, 25-year-old Larry E. John of South Dayton, New York, was traveling westbound on Williams Street. After stopping at a stop sign at Bennett Road, John failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Edwin R. Gomez, 63, of Dunkirk, New York.
The collision resulted in Gomez sustaining injuries, necessitating his transport to Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk for treatment. John was unharmed in the incident.
Assisting at the scene were the East Dunkirk Fire Department, County EMS, and the City of Dunkirk Police. Deputies confirmed that charges are pending as the investigation continues.
