(WNY News Now) – Firefighters responded to a commercial building fire at Save A Lot on Route 20 in Silver Creek on January 10, 2025. Investigators have identified the cause as a heating unit too close to building materials.
On the morning of January 10, 2025, the Silver Creek Fire Department, with mutual aid, responded to a fire at the Save A Lot store located on Route 20 in the Town of Hanover. The incident occurred at approximately 5:55 AM.
Upon arrival, firefighters swiftly extinguished the blaze, which was confined to the ceiling area near the store’s entrance. No damage occurred to the interior of the building, and fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
Fire investigators were called to the scene following the successful suppression of the fire. Their findings revealed that the fire was caused by heaters placed too close to building materials in the ceiling area. The proximity of the heaters to combustible materials led to the ignition, sparking the fire.
Despite the early morning fire, the store’s interior remains intact, and the situation did not escalate further.
