(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A routine traffic stop on S. Main Street escalated into a brief pursuit on Saturday, January 11, 2025, resulting in the arrest of 54-year-old Thomas Kimbrough Sr., a Jamestown resident.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon attempted to stop Kimbrough’s vehicle for traffic infractions at approximately 11:49 p.m. Kimbrough failed to comply, leading officers on a short vehicle pursuit.
Upon stopping the vehicle, Kimbrough fled into a nearby residence on foot. Notably, he neglected to put the car in park, causing it to roll into the front of a police vehicle and inflict minor damage.
After a brief standoff, Kimbrough exited the residence and was taken into custody. During processing at the Jamestown City Jail, officers discovered a quantity of fentanyl on his person. Subsequent investigation revealed that Kimbrough had been operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs, despite his driving privileges being revoked due to prior DWI convictions.
Kimbrough faces multiple charges, including:
- Felony Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI)
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (AUO) in the First Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (CPCS) in the Seventh Degree
- Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
Additionally, Kimbrough received several traffic tickets for violations committed during the incident.
Kimbrough was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
