(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that Shana A. Rowe, 40, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” violent felony, for a fatal shooting in the city’s Emerson neighborhood.

Rowe entered her plea on the morning of jury selection, accepting the charge in full satisfaction of the indictment.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., when Rowe fatally shot 43-year-old Shawneequa Pearson with an illegal firearm on the 100 block of Liddell Street in Buffalo. Pearson was transported by ambulance to ECMC, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Rowe remains in custody without bail and faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., before Erie County Court Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes.

District Attorney Keane commended the Buffalo Police Department for their investigative efforts in the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell of the Homicide Bureau and Chief Andres D. Ortiz of the Buffalo City Court Bureau.
